Three Myths about Veganism
Although the culture of veganism is growing in popularity, there are still myths that vegans must dispel wherever we go to create awareness of our true motivations.
It is essential to know how to communicate our lifestyle to avoid harmful confusion. These are the three most common myths associated with veganism and the ones that we should best know how to disprove:
1. Veganism is just not eating meat
This is a half-truth, but it does not live up to our way of life. The vegan lifestyle philosophy is to avoid the exploitation of animals for all purposes, such as food, clothing, beauty, and cosmetic products. For many vegans, their choice is mainly based on compassion.
2. Veganism compromises your good health
A well-implemented and balanced vegan diet does not have to compromise anyone's good health, especially due to a lack of proteins. Studies have shown that vegetarians often have a lower risk of cardiometabolic problems such as heart disease and diabetes.
3. Being Vegan is Expensive
Classic vegan foods such as beans, pasta, rice, and tofu are much less expensive than meat. The money you save by not buying meat can be used to pay a little more for vegetable-based milk and other foods such as fruits and vegetables.
People still believe these and many other types of meat about veganism. But we should educate, instead of fighting with people. Take a deep breath, and talk with facts.
